Leica D-Lux 4 revealed

LeicaRumors   has this thread that suggests that Leica is to upgrade its D-Lux series with a new model. The D-Lux 4 adds a hotshoe, comes with a new lens, and upgrades the lens and image sensor. Here’s Charlie Sorrel at Wired’s Gadget Lab:

The D-Lux 3 had a 28-112mm ƒ2.8 – 4.9 lens. The new camera has a wider and faster 24-60mm ƒ2-2.8 lens. Inside, the pixel count is actually slightly lower, at 10.1 MP (vs. 10.4) and the sensor size is almost identical, changing from 1/1.65″ to 1/1.63″. These last might just be counting differences between actual and effective pixels.

Update: and here is the press release for the Leica D-Lux 4

2 by Ian Ruhter and Cole Barash

As 2 of the world’s most influential and respected snowboard photographers, the Estate LA store will feature a pictorial adventure with works of Ian Ruhter and Cole Barash this weekend. Unlike other sports where the ability to witness first-hand action before your eyes is a real possibility, Ruther and Barash have followed elite riders into the backcountry as the only documentarians resulting in a series of powerful images. The event takes place this Saturday, September 13th.

Bootcamp Magazine Issue 4

Here is a small look at the recently released issue 4 of Bootcamp Magazine, an artist publication which features a host of artist in black and white print supported by Base Control. This time round the artists who made an appearance include Hatos, HIMAA, Mark Ward, Shin Okishima and Shinsuke Shiga. I am particularly liking the work of HIMAA, the simplicity of the pieces resemble work of a child yet the feel is emphatic and really contrasting while Mark Ward is surely a name we can all associate with.

Barry McGee presents A Moment for Reflection

Barry McGee presents A Moment for Reflection,  a fresh installation at Ratio 3 Gallery, in his hometown of San Francisco. For the exhibit, McGee adds to his catalog of aliases, employing the name Lydia Fong. The new moniker represents a stylistic progression the artist has been alluding to in multiple interviews over the past year. With his popular characters and floating heads on retreat, more abundant geometric tape paintings, and a new vocabulary of stymbols taking center stage, McGee’s art seems to be moving towards increased abstarction. Visit the Ratio 3′ site for more images and a full installation view.
