The Stones Went Social With YouTube

Hot on the heels of Martin Scorese’s Rolling Stones documentary Shine a Light, the “living legends” themselves teamed up with YouTube to interact with fans with some Q&A.

The cool thing about this story is to step back and appreciate this iconic band utilizing the technology of social media to interact with its fans. This is a relatively new concept in their half a century of being musicians, and honestly the fact that they still care enough about the fans to do so is rather refreshing.

Participants asked the band about topics such as piracy, musical influence, and how they think they would’ve done if they had started their career at the mercy of the American Idol judges. Guitarist Keith Richards in turn, asks the fans a question via YouTube video: “What do you want to hear next?”

If you want to check out some of the specific questions and answers that took place, check out YouTube’s Living Legends Channel. If you want to answer Keith, you can do that there as well. Personally, I’d like to hear them try to tackle hip-hop. Maybe some speed metal. Just kidding.
